What is an R.S.V.P. Service?
An R.S.V.P. Service is an invitation tracking method used by companies to handle responses to invitations.
-
Do we really need a R.S.V.P. service
Yes! This is one of the few times in your life when it is well worth your while to spend a little money to save a lot of time doing the things you enjoy and to focus on the details of your wedding day.
-
What does R.S.V.P. stand for?
It is an abbreviation of the French phrase, “respondez, s’il vous plais,” which translates into English as, “please reply.”
-
R.S.V.P. tracking service seems like an extravagance. Can we really save money?
Your friends may think it’s extravagant but it is really very cost efficient? Yes, you can save money on the printing of reply cards and self-addressed stamped envelopes. In Canada, stamps for the average letter begin at 51 cents for wedding invitations that include an inside envelope, a reply card and envelope can easily increase weight and therefore increase the mailing cost per invitation.
-
How far in advance should a R.S.V.P. service be booked?
Sign up for this service before your invitations are printed. All you need to do is reserve your date. Upon registration, you will be provided with Thanx on Time contact information, telephone number and e-mail address to include with your invitations.
-
How do we secure our wedding date with your R.S.V.P. service?
The $40.00 registration fee, by cash or cheque (made payable to Thanx on Time) is all you need to reserve your date.
-
If we don’t want children at our wedding, what options do we have?
There are several alternatives: a) When addressing your invitations, do not include the children’s names and do not mention them in the invitation. b) Have family and friends pass the word that you do not want children there. c) Be guest number specific, e.g. We hope that the (# of) you will be able to join us OR (# of) seats have been reserved in your names. d) and, sometimes people need to be told up front that the occasion of your wedding is an adult reception.
-
How will we know what timeframe to use for deadline dates?
Your deadline dates will be outlined in your contract. Your information taken from your contract information form and your wedding date are used to arrive at specific dates
-
If children are not invited to our wedding, how do you handle what may become a touchy situation?
As professionals, we deal with delicate situations with tact and diplomacy. Upon your request, we will call the guest and politely explain the situation.
-
Can we use your R.S.V.P. service without us being in the same city, province, or country?
Absolutely! Thanx on Time takes care of your guests’ responses from the day you mail them from wherever you call home. All communication is done via e-mail, and telephone.
-
Q. How long before our wedding, should we set our R.S.V.P. date?
A. Your deadline for your responses should be three to four weeks (preferably four, check with your caterer or reception venue regarding their final head count date deadline.) before your special day. This allows for contacting non-confirmed guests and gives them time to get back to us. Check with your caterer or reception location regarding the date they need the final head count.
-
When should we place our invitation order?
It is recommended that you order your invitations approximately two to three months prior to your mail out date. Generally, wedding invitations are sent eight weeks prior to the event. For overseas guests, allow a minimum of nine weeks.
-
Q. Where do we print your telephone number and your e-mail address?
A. The contact information for Thanx on Time, its e-mail address, and telephone number are most commonly printed in the lower left corner of your invitations. You may otherwise choose to have a response card printed using this information. This includes having your printer provide a self-addressed envelope. (You may use Thanx on Time mailing address for your response card envelope; this ensures that all the replies come directly to Thanx on Time for processing.) Tip: You may use a reception card, as it is the same as a response card minus the expense of the envelope and postage. Reception cards in your invitation sets are about $20.00 less expensive than a traditional response card.
-
Do we order our invitations from you?
No. Invitations are not available. You order your invitations from the vendor of your personal choice.
-
When is payment due?
Payment is due before the final guest count is returned to you. Our cost is per invitation NOT per guest. If you need to add to the guest list, extra charges will apply and be calculated prior to the final provision.
-
How soon do we need to have our guest list and information ready and sent to you?
We recommend that all guest list details be finalized at least 10 days prior to ordering your invitations. This date will be in your contract. Once you have the number of guests, your printer will be better able to advise you regarding the number of invitations to order.
-
How should we send our guest list to you?
We need an electronic copy of your guest list that can be e-mailed to us at thanxontime.com. If this does not work for you, we will make every effort to make your guest list transfer convenient for you.
-
What should our guest list include?
Your guest list needs to be in alphabetical order by last name and must also include the number of adults and number of children invited. Also include marital status, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address if applicable.
-
Are you able to provide us with a guest list in word or excel format?
Yes! For an extra charge of 20 cents per name.
-
How do we handle guests who respond to us personally?
A short e-mail to us providing the name of your guest, telephone number, and number of guests attending is all that is necessary. It is necessary for you to advise us of anyone who has replied to you directly as we will need to add this number of guests to the final head count.
